The travel costs to add to an All-on-6 quote

Travel is the part of the bill a clinic can't quote for you. Here's what to budget, line by line, using your own figures.

Short answer

Budget for return flights for every trip and every traveller (usually two trips), hotel nights unless they're included, airport parking and transfers, travel insurance that covers you around planned treatment, meals, time off work, and one spare trip in case something needs adjusting. Use real fares from your nearest airport rather than averages.

Your travel budget, line by line

LineHow to work it out
FlightsReturn fare × number of trips × number of travellers. Check real fares for your dates from your nearest airport.
HotelNights per trip × nightly rate, unless your package includes the hotel. Ask how many nights are included on each trip.
Getting to the airportParking, train or taxi, both ways, each trip.
Transfers abroadAirport, hotel and clinic. Often included in a package; check.
Travel insuranceA policy that covers you around planned treatment. Tell the insurer.
Meals and extrasSoft food for the first days, and day-to-day costs.
Time off workDays away, plus a few days' recovery after the first trip.
A spare tripOne extra return journey, in case something needs adjusting.

Why we don't give average fares

Fares change with the airport, the season and how early you book, so an average would mislead. Enter your own numbers in the calculator. It multiplies flights by trips and travellers for you.

What packages often include

Many clinics, including ours, include the hotel and transfers in the treatment price. Ours includes four nights on the first trip and five on the second, but not flights. Whoever you choose, get the number of nights and what's included in writing, so your budget matches the plan.

Planning the trips themselves

Common questions

How many trips does All-on-6 abroad take?

Usually two: one for the implants and temporary teeth, and one, after a few months of healing, for the final bridge. The Oral Health Foundation says healing usually takes around four months.

Does my EHIC or GHIC cover me in Turkey?

No. GOV.UK says the European Health Insurance Card and Global Health Insurance Card are not valid in Turkey, so you need proper travel insurance.

Will travel insurance cover the dental treatment?

Usually not the planned treatment itself. GOV.UK and the NHS advise telling your insurer about your plans and making sure your cover is appropriate.

Do I need to bring a companion?

It isn't required, but many people like support after surgery. If someone comes, include their flights and any extra hotel cost.
